Squared 2007

Being premiered on my site, ‘Squared’ is the culmination of much experimentation on a number of different pieces over the last year, and was created in September 2007.

It is presented on a 24” square box canvas (0.61m x 0.61m)

Squared has been produced by laying 5 successive layers of texture onto the canvas, sealed, then painted using a combination of dark and light blues, aqua, bronze, gold and silver. It benefits from a number of lacquer coats to enhance the finish.

I’ve never produced a piece where the perspective is just so right, the layering so co-operative with the next and the colouring so explosive in keeping with the texture, I think another piece that I’m going to have a problem letting go off.
