Dark Stainless (2007) Probably
the piece that draws more attention and comments than any other piece I have
created to date.
Dark
Stainless is 40” x 40” (1.02m x 1.02m), on a box canvas.
It
has been produced by laying 4 successive layers of texture onto the canvas,
sealed, then painted using a combination of deep black and ‘stainless’ acrylics
and has been lacquer sealed for protection.
I’ve
had artists describe this piece as explosive, I personally see that, plus a
weird symmetry and levels of texture that just ‘work’.
I’ve
displayed this piece in a number of venues, and am reluctant to sell it even
though I’ve had a number of offers, but I suppose everyone has a price!
Currently residing in
my Dining Room on a deep-red wall, it looks fantastic.
